The Brent Giles show is about a return to values. It concentrates on those things that should matter most in our lives: family, friends, freedom, honesty, God, health etc…
I believe that if we are going to survive as a nation we need to unite despite our differences. It amazes me how much we concentrate on the things that can separate us more than on the things that can unite us. We let differences in race, religion, political views, income brackets and lifestyles separate us and cause us to divide.
I have a twin brother. When I was young we had a cousin that would like to get us to fight each other. So he would come to me and tell me that my twin brother Brian said something derogatory about me and then ask me if I was going to take that. He would do the same thing to my brother and then sit back and watch us fight. It took us a while, but we finally figured out that it was all lies, he just liked watching us fight.
I see the same things happening right now. There is a concerted effort to divide us.
These are my basic beliefs of how we are going to survive the coming of the greatest depression we will see as a nation.
1. We need to have the understanding that most people in the world are good people that want the same basic things as you and me regardless of where in the world they live.
a. A good job to provide for our families
b. A safe place to live
c. The freedom to worship how we want
d. To be healthy enough to enjoy life
2. We have to get to the point in our lives that material things don’t matter, that our self-worth is not based on objects, whether we lose everything or not, we have to understand that those things don’t matter.
3. People that lived during the Great Depression will tell you that you should only spend money on three things: Those things you can eat, wear, or keep you warm.
4. We need to learn to love all people and understand that governments do not represent the majority of people’s thoughts and sentiments.
5. We need to be more involved in the decisions our representative government is making. I believe that both parties are taking us to the wrong destination, and the only way to change that is to be more involved, by putting pressure on our elected officials to vote how we tell them to vote.
6. Freedom is more important than security.

Simple, clear, straightforward.
Those are things we don’t see enough.
Good job.
